PAYMENT POLICIES
I accept payment by cash, check, or credit card before or at the time of service.
If you are using a credit card, my preferred method of accepting payments is via IvyPay, a secure and confidential service designed for therapists.
If you’re curious about my payment policies, or my office policies in general, please read about them in more detail in my Welcome Letter/Informed Consent before we begin treatment. If you have questions or concerns about these policies, let's discuss them at the outset, so that there are no surprises as we begin our work together.
INSURANCE
The only insurance I accept at the moment is listen under services and fees page. If your plan covers out-of-network mental health services; here are some questions to ask your insurance company. I can provide you with a monthly billing statement (often known as a “superbill”) to submit for reimbursement to your insurance company. Payment must be provided to me at the time of service.
Any questions regarding payment/billing please contact Angie Gonzalez at billing@liberacion-counseling.com or call (213) 468-8527.
NO SURPRISES ACT
The No Surprises Act is a U.S. federal law designed to protect consumers from unexpected medical bills, particularly those resulting from out-of-network care. It went into effect on January 1, 2022. Under this law healthcare providers must offer clients who are uninsured or choose not to use their insurance a Good Faith Estimate of service costs.
The estimate will include a fee schedule for various treatment scenarios, as it can be challenging to predict the exact number or duration of sessions you might need.
Here’s what you need to know:
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total anticipated cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including counseling.
You can request this estimate from your healthcare provider or any other provider before scheduling a service or at any point during treatment.
If your bill exceeds your Good Faith Estimate by $400 or more, you have the right to dispute the charge.
Remember to keep a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate.
For more details about your rights to a Good Faith Estimate or how to dispute a bill, consult your Estimate or visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
MEETINGS, CANCELLATIONS, AND NO-SHOWS
I normally schedule one 50-minute session per week at a mutually agreeable time, although the frequency may vary depending on need and current circumstances. (Note: I strongly recommend weekly sessions during the initial phase of work on your presenting concerns; bi-weekly or monthly sessions may be more appropriate during maintenance and termination phases of therapy.)
I am very aware that life is complicated and can often get in the way of our best intentions to access support. Please provide 24 hours (one day) advance notice of cancellation. If it is possible, I will try to find another time to reschedule our appointment, but please know that my ability to do this is limited. You will be expected to pay for any sessions cancelled less than 24 hours before our appointment time.
No-shows: If you do not show or call to your session, I will reach out to you via your preferred contact method to check on your general well-being (and may follow up with any safety procedures as is appropriate). In non-crisis situations, I will assume you are not interested in pursuing additional treatment with me after two no-show/no-call sessions. No-shows are charged at $145 (excluding OHP members).
You will not be charged for any sessions I cancel. I will do my best to notify you well in advance about upcoming vacation weeks, or any need to change or cancel an appointment.
